Our Essential Tremor Video

Watch this video and hear Keith Dewey, our therapist, talk about what essential tremor is.

Learn About Essential Tremor

Essential tremor is a rhythmic, involuntary physical shaking.

It typically affects the hands, but might also cause shaking in the head, voice, arms and legs.

Essential tremor is one of several different types of tremor.

Other types of tremor include Parkinson's or functional tremor.

If you are shaking, it's important to speak with a GP or neurologist so they can check it out.

With Essential Tremor, the shakes are likely to be worse when moving (an "action tremor") rather than when you're resting your hands.

Psychological Treatments for Essential Tremor

Our therapist, Keith Dewey, offers psychological treatments to help with essential tremor.

Keith Dewey

Keith was diagnosed with Essential Tremor in 1999 and was offered beta-blockers (adrenaline blockers) by the NHS.

Rather than take medication, Keith investigated novel therapies and by 2001, he could control his tremors.

Since then, Keith has trained in a wide range of therapies to find new ways of helping people with mind-body issues.

Keith has actively engaged with the medical research community, so that these therapies can be made available more widely.

You can work with Keith online, in Surrey or in London.
