Why Can't I Sleep?

Difficulties with sleep or insomnia are often linked to the hypothalamus.

The hypothalamus is a small part of the subconscious brain that normally helps us transition between wakeful and sleepful states.

If the hypothalamus is too active and is thinking about things that have happened during the day or in the past, it is less likely to trigger and retain the sleepful state.

That's why we use a range of amazing techniques that focus on your sub-conscious brain, to help calm your hypothalamus and associated systems.

When those areas of the brain are allowed to relax, so can your mind and body.

Problems with Sleep Pills and Sleep Tablets

Around 13% of UK adults take sleeping pills, sleeping tablets or alcohol to "help them sleep".

This can help some people in the short term.

However, taking sleeping pills targets the symptom rather than the problem.

When you stop taking the sleeping pills, your hypnothalamus may still have it's concerns.

Furthermore, sleeping pills, tablets or alcohol create a state of sedation, rather than a genuine sleep state.

Sedation, or being "knocked out", does not allow the brain to perform its normal sleep operations.

During normal sleep, the brain dreams, to file thoughts and emotions from the day, and also goes into deep sleep, where it restores and repairs the brain cells.

That's why, if you're using sleeping pills, tablets or alcohol to sleep, you may stiil not feel so good during the day.
