Psychogenic Therapies for Chronic Pain Relief

Living with chronic pain can feel like a never-ending battle.

Whether it is localised aches, pressures or throbbing, tension headaches, IBS, fibromyalgia or arthritic flare-ups.

It can be exhausting, physically and emotionally.

If your doctor has been unable to find a physical cause of the pain or been unable to relieve your pain, there may be an option.

Psychogenic therapies use powerful, science-backed approaches to help provide pain relief.

The Psychology of Chronic Pain

Chronic pain isn't just physical. But it is also not just in your head. It is very real.

Complex messages are constantly being sent back and forth between the brain and body, through the nervous system.

Your brain decides what messages to send to your body, as well as interpretting the messages that come back.

Psychogenic therapies work by disrupting the signals going in both directions to reduce pain.

We can help to calm the brain and calm the signals, neurotransmitters and hormones being from the brain that create tension and inflamation.

We can also help alter the brain's interpretation of signals it receives from the body.

The system calms down and the pain can ease.

Psychogenic therapies have even been used in surgery without anaesthetic drugs.

That is how well pain can be controlled.

Changes can often be quick and may only require a few sessions for you to notice a difference.
