Anxiety is worrying about soemthing that hasn't happened.

Everyone has some anxiety, as it helps us to avoid unacceptable risks.

However, sometimes the brain becomes too sensitive to risk and this can create mental health wellbeing issues.

In the UK, around 6% of people are medically diagnosed with a general anxiety disorder.

Anxiety can be triggered deep within the brain, beyond the direct control of the conscious mind.

Anxiety can make it hard to think clearly and can be very overwhelming. It can cause insomnia.

That part of the brain is also closely connect to the body, and people suffering from anxiety often suffer from physical symptoms such as sweating, shaking, pain or IBS (going to the toilet more than normal).
