Hypnotherapy for Dementia and Alzheimers

Can Hypnotherapy help Dementia and Alzheimers?

As a regulated and qualified hypnotherapist, my formal answer has to be a rather boring "possibly".

Unfortunately, even though hypnosis, dementia and Alzheimer's are not new, there seems to be an amazing lack of scientific research in this area.

This concerns me enough that I'm happy to provide discounted rates for people suffering from dementia and Alzheimer's.

My expectation is that hypnotherapy can help dementia and Alzheimer's.

There are around one million people living with dementia in the UK. It can affect old and young people. More than 30% of people over 80 will die with dementia. Across the world, another person is diagnosed as having dementia every 3 seconds.

Research into Hypnosis for Dementia

So far, the only formal research I've found was by Dr Nightingale and Dr Duff, from 2005 to 2007.

Their reports suggest very positive opportunities:

We're always on the lookout for more research into how hypnotherapy can help dementia and Alzheimer's. Please contact if you've found some!

Part of the challenge here is that hypnotherapy is actually a very wide range of techniques. Every hypnotherapist and even every hypnotherapy session will be different.

This is one reason to ensure your hypnotherapist is qualified under a Professional Standards Authority (PSA) organisation such as the National Hypnotherapy Society or CNHC.

Hypnotherapy for Dementia and Alzheimer's

At FreeYourMind.UK, I don't provide medical diagnosis or treatment.

However, I can provide support to people who are experiencing dementia or Alzheimer's using techniques such as hypnotherapy and Havening.

These techniques are known to help calm the mind, which can help to reduce confusion, anxiety and anger.

If these techniques work for the client, they should notice an improvement with the first few sessions.
