Overcome your fear of dogs.

Overcome That Fear of Dogs

You are not alone. The fear of dogs affects around 9% of people.

But that means that 91% of people just don't have those overwhelming thoughts and feelings.

We want to help you think like them!

Meet Keith Dewey, our advanced phobia therapy specialist:

It might be a fear of big dogs or fear of little dogs. Perhaps also a fear of cats.

It might be specific breeds, such as German Shepherds, French Bulldogs, Rottweilers, Bulldogs, Golden Retrievers, Labrador Retrievers, Beagles or Poodles.

Whatever creates your fear, we are here to help you.

What Are Common Dog Phobia Symptoms?

The symptoms from a fear of dogs are often categorised into emotional, physical, behavioural and cognitive.

  1. The brain creates the emotional symptoms first. The brain's limbic system, which evolved millions of years ago to keep us safe from saber-toothed tigers, rapidly fires an alert into your body. It doesn't think logically. It's just following an incorrectly learnt response.
  2. Then come physical symptoms, as that alert fires chemicals into your body, as though you are really in danger. This will change your heart rate, breathing and muscle tension. It can leave you shaking and disoriented.
  3. Next are behavioural symptoms. Your brain will be trying to keeping you safe, often by running, hiding or freezing in terror.
  4. Finally, the cognitive symptoms, as your logical brain tries to help, perhaps by anxiously working out how to avoid going to places or seeing people, just to avoid dogs. This means that you are now running from your fear of dogs, rather than running from the dogs themselves.

All of this can create considerable anxiety and may even cause traumatic memories or PTSD.

Would you like to quickly change that fear now?

Advanced Dog Phobia Therapy

Our approach can help you change your brain's old emotional response, so that the physical, behavioural and cognitive symptoms also even need to be triggered.

We originally used hypnotherapy and we still do with some clents.

However, we've found most clients prefer new techniques that we have accredited in, such as Havening and BWRT, which were only developed within the last 10 years.

Whichever technique is used, we expect clients to notice an improvement during the first appointment.

Many clients actually end up saying "wow" during that meeting!

Unlike hypnotherapy, our new techniques don't require the hypnoidal "trance" state and don't need us to spend much time talking about the problem or history, so they work particularly well online, via private video calls.

When Covid allows, we also have therapy rooms in London, including Harley Street, Canary Wharf, Bank and Kensington, and therapy rooms near Guildford and Woking at GU3 3HQ, which is easily accessible from Godalming, Farnborough, Epsom, Cobham and Dorking.

If you are ready to overcome that fear of dogs, you can book your appointment with us now!
