How would you like to feel?

Advanced hypnotherapist for anxiety, anger trauma concerns

Thank you for visiting.

My name is Keith Dewey.

I specialise in helping people change unwanted thoughts, feelings and habits that may have got lodged in their subconscious minds, making it harder for their conscious minds to change it.

For example, I help people with anxiety, phobias, worries, anger, post traumatic stress, psychosomatic conditions (IBS, fibromyalgia, muscle pains), and unwanted habits (smoking, emotional eating), using modern psychological and psychosensory techniques such as hypnotherapy, Havening, BWRT, EFT, TFT and NLP.

This page tells you a little bit more about who I am.

If you have any questions or comments, or would like help creating change, please send me a message.

I look forward to hearing from you.

My Story

I've always been interested in the mind, and how we can think and feel better.

Way back in 1996, I had just completed a three year degree in Cognitive Science at the University of Exeter. This was an amazing course, that looked at the latest advances in psychology, neuroscience, philosophy and computational models of the brain. It was very hard, but absolutely fascinating. Much of that research is still seen as leading edge studies of the mind and brain.

Ever since then, I have been looking for the most effective approaches as the science evolves, studying amazing people such as Paul McKenna (pictured below), Milton Erickson, Richard Bandler, Francine Shapiro, Roger Callahan, Gary Craig, Joe Griffen, Ivan Tyrrell and the Ruden brothers.

I also found myself moving into the corporate world, in London, spending many years helping people to improve how they think and feel, whether that was removing unwanted thought and behaviour patterns, or embedding new and better patterns.

It became very clear how much we rely on our subconscious thought and intuition, every day.

I found myself increasingly studying everything the subconscious "primal mind" does for us.

It processes everything we see, hear, feel, taste and smell. Not just what we're aware of, but everything that enters our senses. It was even thinking about how warm your big toe on your left foot is, just now!

It controls our movements, down to the little tiny micro movements that are needed to keep our balance or open doors. Have you spent much time thinking about how complex it is to lift your arm? Which muscles move when, automatically? All that processing is done for us.

It controls our breathing, heart rate, blood pressure and temperature.

It also controls many of our emotions and the chemicals in our brain and body. It can create calm or panic, before our conscious minds have even assessed the situation.

My corporate work in London highlighted how many people seemed to be doing OK, but were fighting huge internal battles with their subconscious thoughts, feelings and habits.

Industry figures tell us that 1 in 7 people have mental health difficulties each week and 1 in 4 will have significant difficulties during their lives.

That is not healthy. It's not good for the people, companies, or countries.

I continued to learn more.

As I worked to help people, Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) started to prove itself as a really useful approach. Rather than being a specific technique, NLP is the study of excellence. Practitioners have studied what people do, to have achieve the things they want, so that other people can learn to achieve the same results. While NLP has gained a reputation around management and marketing skills, it originally came from research projects that studied leading therapists, such as the great hypntherapist Milton Erickson, in the 1970s. NLP has uncovered some amazing techniques, from removing phobias to boosting confidence. Those techniques can help you to rapidly change your subconscious patterns.

Over the years, it has been a pleasure to be trained directly by the co-founder of NLP, Dr Richard Bandler, pictured below, with myself and the lovely Mrs Bandler.

There is considerable overlap between the language patterns used in NLP and those often used in hypnotherapy. Over the years, I've studied many types of hypnotherapy, such as clinical, cognitive, regression, analytical and solution focused. They all help to make more rapid changes in the subconscious mind. Similar to guided meditation, it is a focused state of relaxation, where the brain is very aware of specific thoughts. It has been used for centuries, to help people change their subconscious thoughts, feelings and behaviours. Some forms of hypnotherapy are also recognised by the NHS. I studied for the NCH HPD qualification, with the lovely people pictured below, which is required for NHS referrals.

Through working with many other therapists and clients, I've also been fortunate to find and train in a wide range of amazing techniques, such as EFT and TFT tapping, Havening Techniques® and BWRT.

Each technique has it's own area where it excels.

The speed that some of these techniques work at, originally surprised both me and the clients.

But now, having seen it so many times, I've got used to the rapid changes and enjoy waiting for the client, to get that bemused look on their face, as they say "Wow, I just can't feel that unwanted feeling anymore".

It is always a priviledge to be there, to experience that moment of life-changing change with the client.
